Scott Joseph LeCompte
I’m a single 31-year old geek from Rio Rancho, NM. I’ve never been married, and I have no kids. I can often be found fiddling with computers or electronics, and in addition to my paid freelance jobs I develop PHP and MySQL scripts for the open-source community. I also moderate the Hostmonster user-to-user forums when time permits. I have an interest in extreme rock crawling, but my money-pit of a rock crawler has been in the building stage for more years than I’d care to admit.
A Brief History
My dad, BJ, worked for the New Mexico Air National Guard. My mom, Beverly, was a school teacher for Albuquerque and Los Lunas public school systems, and worked as a vice principal and principal before she returned to teaching at Century alternative school. I also have a half sister, Rebecca, from whom I was separated at 6 years-old.
She made brief contact on a few occasions when I was growing up, and we were finally reunited in 2000. I was born and raised in New Mexico, attending grade school in Albuquerque, and middle and high school in Los Lunas.
After graduating from Los Lunas High School with the class of 1995, I attended my first year of college at New Mexico Tech in Socorro, although I never completed the Electrical Engineering program. After my short stint at New Mexico Tech, I pursued various degree programs at the University of New Mexico, none of which appealed to me.
I worked at a few odd-jobs for a couple years, until I was hired at Silmax LLC, a semiconductor manufacturing company in Albuquerque. 11 years later, I’m still working at the same company, but it has undergone several name changes over the years. Silmax was purchased by Sumitomo Sitix in 2000, which later merged with Mitsubishi Materials to form Sumco Phoenix Corporation.
In addition to my semiconductor manufacturing career, I have become a freelance web developer specializing in PHP and MySQL. I am currently pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems from Kaplan University, and I expect to complete the program in 3 terms with a 4.0 GPA.
